Honoring those who have honored us — with dignity, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the American servicemember.
Veterans Foundation Inc. (VFI) has been serving our nation's veterans and active-duty servicemembers for nearly half a century. We have always been a leader in providing innovative and groundbreaking solutions to the variety of issues that involve our veterans, active duty military, their spouses and families.
Dating to the early 1980s, VFI has been intimately involved in the research and development of projects involving Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, homelessness, nutrition, employment, and raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of the United States military.
From mobile community care programs to nationwide parades welcoming home our Vietnam veterans, our work has always been guided by a single, abiding principle: those who served deserve our nation's full measure of gratitude.
July 4, 2026 — a quarter-millennium of liberty, paid for in the courage of those who served.
For two and a half centuries, America's freedom has rested on the shoulders of her veterans. From Valley Forge to Vietnam, from the beaches of Normandy to the deserts of the Middle East, the men and women who answered the call have written every chapter of our nation's story.
As we approach this historic milestone, we pause to honor the legacy they built — and to reaffirm our promise to live by the values they defended.
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
— John F. Kennedy
A record of consequential, life-changing work for those who wore the uniform.
We funded landmark research on PTSD as a legal defense in criminal cases — and shared our expertise with Russian researchers as they began diagnosing their own veterans returning from Afghanistan.
We launch mobile community care programs that bring medical care, housing assistance, and social services directly to the children and families of veterans who have nowhere else to turn.
Partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs, we design and run one-stop events that connect homeless veterans to social services, counseling, government assistance, and housing — all in a single day.
We raise funds for veteran job-training programs and outfit veterans completing rehabilitative training in professional business attire — so they walk into every interview ready to win.
We raised the funds and led the planning that helped New York City and Chicago host their first-ever "Welcome Home Veterans" parades, and produced Los Angeles' "Thank You Veterans" tribute — honoring those who served in Vietnam.
We brought the Travelling Vietnam Veterans Memorial to Santa Monica's Pacific Park (hosted by the late Johnny Grant), to Beverly Hills High School (hosted by Larry King), and unveiled it on the boardwalk at Venice Beach.
Teaming with The History Channel, we built "Take AIM" — a national curriculum supplement that teaches elementary school students the history of our armed forces.
We produced public service announcements for First Lady Laura Bush, championing her South American literacy campaign and the "Troops to Teachers" initiative.
We joined Denny's Restaurants and LA's Village For Vets to roll out the Denny's Mobile Diner — serving hot, free breakfasts to veterans on the streets.
When vandals defaced the Venice Beach "POW/MIA Mural Wall" on Memorial Day 2010, we led the fundraising drive and the restoration that brought it back.
A salute to courage, sacrifice, and service — the premier evening honoring the men and women who answered our nation's call.
For over a decade, the American Veteran Awards Show was the pre-eminent entertainment event honoring our country's active-duty servicemembers, veterans, National Guard and Reserves, and military spouses and families.
As a Department of Defense sanctioned "widely attended gathering," the show became one of the most popular destination events for the highest-ranking members of our government and military — and the crème of Hollywood — to show their patriotism in a simple and very public way.
"The American Veteran Awards Show was accorded the Department of Veterans Affairs' highest civilian honor — along with a slew of other prestigious designations."
Distinguished servicemembers, statesmen, and luminaries of stage and screen — gathered in tribute.
